Wilier Filante SL ID2 105 Di2 Bike Info
The Wilier Filante SL ID2 105 Di2 Bike is the more accessible entry in Wilier's Filante aero road bike family, a carbon race bike built around the aerodynamic thinking of the flagship Filante SLR ID2. Wilier has been building bikes in Italy since 1906, and the Filante name sits at the front of its road racing lineup. The SL ID2 is meant to bring that aero-first approach to more riders, with Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting on this build.
Wilier says the SL ID2 draws on the SLR ID2's aerodynamic design, with development that included CFD simulation and validation in the Silverstone wind tunnel. In practice that means a frame shaped to cut through air at speed, with the tube profiles, integrated cockpit and bottle system all designed as parts of one package. On flat roads, fast group rides and breakaways, that is where an aero road bike earns its place.
The frame and fork are carbon monocoque construction in Wilier's NHU MOD+ high impact strength carbon. Wilier does not publish the fiber details, and the layup is less elaborate than the SLR's, which is part of how the SL ID2 reaches a lower price. For a rider who wants a race-capable aero frame without paying for the top-tier layup, that trade is sensible. The geometry is identical to the SLR ID2's racing geometry, so the riding position is the same low, forward-leaning one.
Up front is Wilier's R-Bar, an integrated handlebar with internal cable routing. Its distinctive feature is a 3 cm flare, so the drops are wider than the tops. The idea is more control in the drops without widening the brake lever position. The Aerokit SL is included, integrating bottles and holders into the frame. Unlike the SLR's flattened bottles, it uses round bottles, so you are not tied to a special bottle design. Wilier's optional Aerokit SLR can be added if you want the SLR's system.
The SL ID2 is more practical than a pure race machine. Tire clearance is up to 34mm, up from 30mm on the previous Filante SL, which opens the door to wider, lower-pressure tires on rougher roads. The frame uses the UDH standard hanger and a removable front derailleur mount, and Wilier lists compatibility with single-chainring drivetrains for riders who prefer a 1x setup. The 105 Di2 build keeps the standard two-chainring layout, with Shimano 105 Di2 12-speed electronic shifting.
Geometry on the size M gives a sense of the fit: a 538mm stack and 388mm reach, a 72.5-degree head tube angle, a 74-degree seat tube angle and a 408mm chainstay length. Reach and stack are race-oriented. If you are coming from an endurance bike, expect a lower front end and a more committed position. Sizes run from XS to XXL, and crank lengths scale with frame size, from 165mm on the smallest frames to 172.5mm on the largest.
The Filante SL ID2 is available in four colors: Flow Blue, Drive White, Pivot Grey and Pulse Red. It suits riders who race or ride fast, want an aero bike with a wide-tire margin, and prefer the shifting of Shimano Di2 without moving to the top of the Wilier range.
