The aluminum body keeps weight in check while the chromoly spindle and sealed cup-and-cone bearings handle the abuse that comes with trail riding.

Retention is adjustable via a small hex key at the back of the mechanism, letting you dial in release tension to suit your riding style — whether you prefer a quick release for technical terrain or a firmer hold for climbing and sprinting. The M520s ship with SM-SH51 single-release cleats, which offer 4° of float for natural ankle movement, and they're also compatible with SM-SH56 multi-release cleats if you want a more forgiving exit angle.

Shimano PD-M520 Pedals Specs at a Glance

Pedal body: Aluminum

Spindle: Chromoly

Bearing system: Sealed cup and cone

Included cleats: SM-SH51 single-release, 4° float

Cleat compatibility: SM-SH56 multi-release cleats
