shimano-cn-hg901-11s-chain
Shimano CN-HG901 11s Chain

The Shimano CN-HG901 11-speed chain is built for top-level competition drivetrains, where every shift needs to be fast, consistent, and reliable across the full gear range. Hollow pivot pins keep weight down while the asymmetrical HG-X plate design — with each of the four plate types shaped differently — gives the chain directional shifting behaviour that works with the geometry of your chainrings and cassette, not against it.

All links and pivot parts carry Shimano's Sil-Tec fluorine coating, which repels moisture and grime, reduces friction at the contact points, and extends wear life in variable conditions. Because the chain is directional, installation matters: the Shimano logo should face upward on the top run of chain between the cassette and chainring, so the beveling on the outer and inner plates is oriented correctly for both upshifts and downshifts. Get that right and the chain does its job without asking anything more of you.

Shimano CN-HG901 11s Chain Specs at a Glance

Speed compatibility: 11-speed

Weight: 246.5 g

Coating: Sil-Tec fluorine treatment on all links and pivot parts

Plate design: Asymmetrical HG-X — directional installation required

Pin construction: Hollow pivot pins
