By replacing both the spider and chainring with a single CNC-machined piece, these oval rings maximize stiffness while keeping weight impressively low.

The oval profile is designed to improve pedaling efficiency by reducing dead spots through the pedal stroke, helping riders maintain momentum on long climbs, rough gravel, and rolling terrain. Paired with Wolf Tooth’s patented Drop-Stop® B tooth profile, the chainring delivers outstanding wear life, quiet operation, and reliable chain retention—even in muddy or high-vibration conditions.

Optimized specifically for SRAM Eagle and Flattop chains, these chainrings are fully compatible with modern SRAM 12- and 13-speed gravel and road groups, including Red XPLR AXS. Precise chainline geometry ensures proper drivetrain alignment across standard and wide spindle cranksets, making this an ideal upgrade for performance-focused gravel and all-road builds.

Wolf Tooth Oval Direct Mount Chainring Specs at a Glance

Mount Standard: SRAM 8-bolt direct mount

Chainring Shape: Oval

Tooth Profile: Drop-Stop® B (wide/narrow)

Material: CNC-machined 7075-T6 aluminum

Chain Compatibility: SRAM Eagle and Flattop chains

Groupset Compatibility: SRAM 12- and 13-speed, including Red XPLR AXS

Chainline: 45 mm (standard spindle) / 47.5 mm (wide spindle) for 38–44T

Weights: 38T: 81 g | 40T: 87 g | 42T: 97 g | 44T: 117 g

Made In: USA

Design Benefits

Smoother Power Delivery: Oval profile promotes consistent torque through the pedal stroke.

Spider-Free Stiffness: One-piece construction improves power transfer while reducing weight.

Outstanding Chain Retention: Drop-Stop® B design excels in mud, dust, and rough terrain.

Modern Drivetrain Compatibility: Tuned for SRAM’s latest gravel and road 1x systems.

Final Take

The Wolf Tooth Oval Direct Mount Chainring for SRAM 8-Bolt Cranks is a premium upgrade for gravel and road riders looking to improve efficiency without sacrificing reliability.
