Available in compact 50x34 and mid-compact 52x36 chainring options, with crank arm lengths ranging from 165mm to 175mm, it covers a wide range of rider builds and riding styles. Whether you're tackling long climbs, sustained group rides, or criterium-style efforts, the FC-08 is engineered to stay consistent lap after lap.

Shimano's Hollowtech hollow-forged crank arms are the structural backbone here — the manufacturing process removes material from inside the arm itself, reducing weight and rotational mass while maintaining the torsional stiffness needed for efficient power transfer. The outer chainring uses Shimano's Hollowglide profile, a tooth geometry designed to work in close cooperation with HG-EV and HG-X11 chains for fast, clean front shifts under load. The inner ring's Hyperglide+ profiling supports smooth upshifts and downshifts regardless of pedaling pressure. It's a system built around consistency, not compromise.

Shimano Ultegra FC-08 Crankset 11-speed Specs at a Glance

Groupset compatibility: Shimano Ultegra 11-speed

Chainring options: 50x34 (compact), 52x36 (mid-compact)

Crank arm lengths: 165mm, 170mm, 172.5mm, 175mm

Construction: Hollowtech hollow-forged aluminum crank arms

Outer chainring: Hollowglide tooth profile

Chain compatibility: Shimano HG-EV and HG-X11 11-speed chains

Bottom bracket interface: Shimano Hollowtech II

Speed: 11-speed

Design Benefits

Hollow-forged construction for reduced rotational weight: By removing material from inside the crank arm during forging, Shimano achieves a stiffer, lighter arm than a solid casting would allow — which translates directly to sharper acceleration response and less fatigue over long efforts.

Hollowglide chainring geometry for reliable front shifting: The Hollowglide outer ring is shaped to guide the chain efficiently onto and off the ring, giving you predictable front shifts even when you're pushing hard into a climb or sprinting out of a corner.

Wide fit range across arm lengths and chainring options: Four crank lengths and two gearing configurations mean this crankset can be dialed in to your biomechanics and terrain — whether that's a compact setup for hilly rides or a mid-compact for flatter courses where you need more top-end range.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0608/7684/9196/files/shimano-ultegra-fc-08-crankset-11-speed-1609294.jpg?v=1771294032
