Giordana Men's FR-C Thermal Long Sleeve Jersey Info

The Giordana Men's FR-C Thermal Long Sleeve Jersey is a lightweight thermal jersey for cooler rides, designed by Giordana for fall, winter and early spring temperatures. The fleece-like fabric is meant to cover a wide range of conditions and can go colder with base layers, vests or a jacket over it.

The 83% nylon and 17% elastane material has four-way stretch, and Giordana notes that it helps breathability when the effort is high. A lightweight thermal interior wicks moisture away quickly, and the aerodynamic fit still allows for layering. The set-in sleeves have straight-cut cuffs and an aerodynamic shape, and a gripper elastic waistband holds the back down.

Pockets

You get three rear cargo pockets plus a fourth zippered pocket at the side seam for small essentials such as keys or a card. The jersey is made in Italy and comes in black, charcoal blue, vino rosso and olive yellow. Sizes are XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.

The RA Perspective

If you ride through the shoulder seasons, a thermal jersey like this one earns its place in the drawer. The FR-C Thermal Long Sleeve is built from a fleece-like, four-way stretch fabric with a lightweight thermal interior, and Giordana says it is made for fall, winter and early spring. On a cool group ride it manages heat the way a good midweight layer should, wicking moisture away instead of holding it against you.

The fit is aerodynamic and low profile. That is useful in two ways: the jersey is cut for aero efficiency, and there is enough room to wear a base layer underneath. Over that, a vest or jacket gets you into colder days. The three rear cargo pockets are the standard layout, and the side seam zippered pocket gives you somewhere secure for a card or key.

There are tradeoffs to keep in mind. This is a lightweight thermal piece, so on cold days it is a layer, not a complete answer. The manufacturer's feature list for this version does not call out reflective detailing, so plan on lights or a vest if you ride in the dark. And because the cut is closer than a casual layer, riders between sizes should think about how much they plan to wear underneath.

For us, it is the long-sleeve for training rides in the 40s and 50s Fahrenheit, with a base layer added once things cool off.
