Capo Super Corsa Thermal Vest Info

The Capo Super Corsa Thermal Vest is a cold-weather cycling vest that Capo updated with a windproof front and a breathable thermal back. The idea is to protect your core from wind on the bike while letting extra heat escape through the back.

Two fabrics, two jobs

The front, side and neck panels use a windproof, water-resistant membrane with a brushed inside, which Capo says holds warmth and blocks the cold air you meet head-on. The back panel is Super Roubaix thermal fabric, chosen for breathability, so moisture can move out and you avoid the clammy feeling that can spoil a cold ride.

Fit and features

A tapered collar gives on-bike coverage around the neck, and Capo waist elastic helps the vest stay put. Three rear pockets keep your essentials within reach, and a two-way Vislon YKK zipper with a lockable puller lets you adjust ventilation from the top or bottom. The vest is made in Italy, comes in black or curry, and is sized S through 2X.

The RA Perspective

A vest is the cheapest way to add range to your wardrobe, and this one is built for the cold end of that range. The front is windproof, which is where the wind hits you, and the back is a thermal fabric that breathes. That layout makes sense in practice, since your back is where you sweat on a climb.

We think the two-way zipper is the most useful feature. You can start the ride zipped up, open the bottom as the day warms and still keep the neck covered, or the other way around. The three rear pockets also stay accessible without opening your outer layers, which matters when it is cold and you want to eat on the move without stopping.

The tradeoff is simple. A vest leaves your arms to a long sleeve jersey or base layer, so it does not replace a jacket on a properly cold day. Capo calls the front panel water resistant, so it handles spray and light moisture, not a steady downpour.

We would reach for this on cold, dry rides when you want the core covered and the arms flexible. Pair it with a thermal long sleeve jersey and it covers a wide span of winter days.
