Capo LTD Acquerello SC Wind Vest Info

The Capo LTD Acquerello SC Wind Vest is a lightweight vest that Capo designed for mild to cold conditions, and it completes the Acquerello SC kit. It is made in Italy and comes in Light Grey - Blue, sizes S through XXL.

Windproof front, breathable back

The front panel and the front pocket are windproof and water-resistant, which is the protection that matters on a cool morning start or a long descent when the wind hits your chest. Capo says the vest is compact enough to store in a jersey pocket once the day warms up. The rear panel is V Mesh, a fabric Capo chose for breathability and for a closer on-the-bike fit through the back.

Fit and features

A two-way camlock zipper lets you open the vest from the top or the bottom to adjust heat on the fly. Capo waist elastic helps hold the fit, and three rear pockets keep storage available when the vest is on. Reflective inserts add visibility in low light.

Because the vest is windproof and water-resistant rather than waterproof, it is best treated as a wind layer for cool, dry rides and light moisture.

The RA Perspective

A wind vest does one job well: it keeps cold air off your chest while the rest of you stays breathable. That is what Capo built this one to do. The front panel is windproof and water-resistant, the back is V Mesh, and the whole thing is light enough that Capo says it packs into a jersey pocket.

That packability is the real appeal. On a spring morning that starts at 45 degrees and finishes in the 60s, you can start with the vest on, open the zipper as you warm up, and stow it before the first big climb. The two-way camlock zipper makes that easy because you can vent from the bottom without exposing your neck. Three rear pockets stay accessible with the vest on, and the reflective inserts are a useful extra when you are riding early or late.

The tradeoff is coverage. A vest leaves your arms bare, so it does not replace a jacket once temperatures drop or the rain arrives. The front is water-resistant, not waterproof, and it is not the piece for a steady downpour. It also works best over a jersey that already fits close, since the whole point is a clean profile.

If you own the Acquerello SC jersey, this is the natural partner for it. If you do not, it still works over any close-fitting jersey, and it is one of the more useful layers to keep in the back pocket from March through November.
