The Partington R-Series Performance Ti 50/50 Wheelset is a carbon disc-brake road wheelset with a 50mm rim depth front and rear, from an Australian company that designs, develops, tests and manufactures its wheels in Australia. The "Ti" refers to the hub internals: a titanium ratchet system paired with ceramic bearings, which Partington positions as a way to keep drag low and engagement consistent in all conditions. Claimed weight for the pair is 1,175 grams (plus or minus 1%), so this is a deep-section tubeless carbon wheelset that does not ask you to carry much extra mass for the aero profile.

Partington developed the R-Series rim shapes in-house and refined them at the SASI wind tunnel in Adelaide, Australia, backed by extensive CFD analysis. The 50mm depth is the company's balance point. Partington describes it as pairing aerodynamic efficiency across typical yaw angles with stable handling, which is the trade most road riders are really shopping for. Rolling terrain, gusty days and fast group rides are where a 50mm front tends to feel more settled than something deeper. Partington also makes a 65mm profile that it focuses on maximum aerodynamic performance, but this 50/50 pairing is the one built for all-around road use.

The AERON carbon rim is a multi-material composite that uses Toray fibers over a PMI foam core. The spokes are Partington's FLEXON carbon spokes, made from continuous, uninterrupted Toray intermediate-modulus carbon fiber, with 18 in the front wheel and 21 in the rear. Partington cites strength, fatigue life and lateral stiffness as the goals, and lists the 50mm wheelset's lateral stiffness at 50.5 N/mm. The spokes are replaceable, using steel pins and an insert, so a damaged spoke does not mean a dead wheel.

Hub design follows the same system approach. The PERFORM hub is machined from aluminum with an anodized black finish, and Partington used finite element analysis to refine its geometry, reducing mass while maintaining stiffness and load transfer. Inside, the ceramic bearings and titanium ratchet sit in a self-contained freehub, available for SRAM XDR, Shimano HG 11-speed or Campagnolo N3W drivetrains. The rims are hooked and work with tubed or tubeless tires, with no rim tape required. Internal width is 23mm and external width is 34mm. Partington optimizes the profile for tires up to 30mm and recommends 28mm up front and 30mm in the rear, with a compatible range of 28mm to 32mm and a maximum pressure of 87 psi. That makes this a modern wide-tire wheelset, so if your bike is still running 25mm tires, plan on a change. Maximum system weight (rider, bike and gear) is 110 kg.

Each wheel ships with a padded wheel bag, a bidon, an exercise towel, a valve and a rotor lockring. Partington backs the wheelset with a two-year manufacturer warranty and a multi-year crash replacement program, both requiring registration. Three decal options are offered: Strong Dark, Strong White and Subtle White.
