It got love from every quarter. But as cyclists and designers, rest isn’t easy; they’ve trained themselves to keep going. No sooner was the C60 established as a super-frame, they made it their new benchmark and decided they needed to exceed it in as many ways possible. That’s what the C64 does.

They just wanted to make it lighter, stiffer, more comfortable, more aero, better looking, easier to work on, and stops better. The proverbial going to eleven. Which is what they did, making the C64 the new ten, the new essence of their perfection, as best they can distill it today.

Of course, it’s made from carbon-fiber tubes and lugs. The joinery allows for better compaction, greater strength, better tuning of ride qualities. The tubes are formed with stainless steel inner and outer molds, which means they can remove the inner mold at the end of the effort and have a tube that is as smooth and even and good-looking on the inside as it is on the outside. The head tube is a single piece for strength and light weight, while the seat lug is designed with an internal binder for security and beauty and weight savings; a single 4mm hex head key does the tightening.

Another cool innovation, which follows a pattern with many of their other design innovations is the rear derailleur hanger. It’s mounted inside the right dropout so that when it deforms or breaks under stress, it doesn’t affect the carbon-fiber dropout at all. This is of a piece with their ThreadFit 82 bottom bracket, where you can replace the threaded inserts if they wear out or get damaged, though you still press in the bearings for weight savings and stiffness. It’s also the kind of thinking behind the headset, of which the body incorporates a special mix of carbon fiber, nylon, and elastomers, taking the edge of vibrations while still precisely tracking.

The seatpost is designed to integrate with the seat collar. It’s a truncated cylinder that is both aero and comfortable—aero because of the leading blunt edge and comfortable because the smallish diameter and Kamm-tailed style shape allows for rearward flex. The shaft is carbon-fiber for vibration-damping and weight-savings, while the forged aluminum head, hidden behind the paint, is light and durable and easy to micro-adjust.

Aerodynamics they considered as part of the package, but not a defining feature. They wanted aero, but not at the expense of ride quality. You’ll see that the head tube, the fork crown and head tube juncture, the fork crown, the seat post, and the down tube are tugged to make them slice the air better, but not dramatically. The most important tube shape might be that of the downtube, which is wider than it is tall and slightly lowered. This helps moves air around the water bottles and seat tube better, but it results in a better ride quality than a more dramatically-shaped tube.

The downtube shape also contributes to torsional stiffness, as do the chainstays and the seat tube. The stays are set as wide as possible, while still allowing for chainrings and generous tire clearance. They are also asymmetric, with the left leg lower than the right to better counteract the stresses that result from the right-side driving the rear wheel. The seatpost is as large as they could fit without impinging on tire size to make sure the bike was as rigid as possible for pedaling. The final part of the stiffness equation is the fork. They started with a tapered 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” steerer for stiffness. They also set the legs out a bit wider for both strength and to better fit direct-mount brakes.

In terms of comfort, there are several things both obvious and subtle that make the bike more compliant. You can see that the top tube is flattened toward the seat tube for comfort, and the seat stays are fairly thin. The seat stays also have mounting points for direct-mount brakes. The seatpost, too, has a shape that allows for some give. But they go beyond. The seat tube lengths have changed a bit from the C60, allowing for a little more post to be showing for what is otherwise the same size. The fork legs taper dramatically so that they can move vertically some without compromising steering. They also made room for 28mm tires, so you can put on your Roubaix tubulars and still have room for gravel and muck to pass through. And don’t forget the elastomers formed inside the headset.

The geometry is pretty much unchanged in key areas. This is, after all, a Colnago, and ride quality is paramount. The head and seat tube angles and fork rake are all unchanged. These are essential elements and there was no reason to tweak what is so cherished. Bottom bracket drop is unchanged on most sizes. Chainstay lengths have been adjusted to make room for 28mm tires. Other than that, little is different.

One last improvement Colnago made to the C64 was cable routing. No longer do you have to choose between electronic or mechanical routing. The bike has internal routing for both, and comes with the stops and plates and plugs necessary so you can choose which one you want at any time.

Weight for the C64 is 900g for an unpainted size 50 sloping, with a 355g uncut fork.

The Colnago C64 comes with frame, fork, headset, seatpost, small bits and pieces for cable-routing and such. The included seatpost is 350mm long and has 15mm of setback. There are accessory 0mm and 30mm setback posts available if the standard doesn’t work. You’ll need to supply the direct-mount brakes. If you go electronic wired, the battery mounts internally.

The Colnago C64/V2R/C-RS Disc Rear Derailleur Hanger is a frame-specific replacement part designed to fit disc brake variants of the C64, V2R, and C-RS framesets. You're not accepting someone else's component spec — you're building a machine around a frame you've specifically chosen, and that choice matters more than any single component you'll put on it. The Colnago C64 Disc deserves to be that frame. Built by hand in Cambiago, Italy, it represents 70 years of racing knowledge distilled into carbon fiber and titanium hardware, and it will be the last road frameset most riders ever need to buy.

Why Colnago Builds with Lugs

In the early 2000s, the cycling industry converged on monocoque carbon construction — a single molded shell that's fast to manufacture and easy to automate. Colnago looked at monocoque, evaluated it, and continued building with lugs. That decision wasn't conservatism. It was the considered judgment of a framebuilder that had been racing at the top of professional cycling since 1954 and understood what their method produced that monocoque didn't.

Lugged construction gives the builder control over stiffness distribution that a single mold doesn't. The C64's high-modulus carbon tubes and carbon lugs are bonded at each junction — bottom bracket, head tube, seat cluster, chainstay junctions — allowing Colnago's engineers to specify exactly how each area of the frame behaves under load. The result is a frame that's laterally stiff where you need power transfer and torsionally compliant where you need comfort: through the tubes themselves, in the sections that absorb road vibration over long days in the saddle.

The C64 updates the lugged formula with UD (unidirectional) carbon replacing the heavier 3K weave on external surfaces — lighter, cleaner, and structurally refined. Wall thickness is reduced throughout with internal ribs added for targeted reinforcement. The bare frame comes in at approximately 900g in a painted 52cm. Competitive by any measure, and built to last decades rather than seasons.

Disc Brake Specification and Frame Details

The C64 Disc moves to conventional 12mm thru-axles — a deliberate departure from Colnago's previous proprietary system that puts serviceability and compatibility first. Any disc-specific wheelset fits. Any shop can work on it. No special tools required at the trailhead if something needs adjustment mid-ride.

The bottom bracket uses Colnago's ThreadFit 82.5 standard: an 82.5mm shell with a threaded interface via a replaceable sleeve, accepting any standard BB86/BB86.5 threaded bottom bracket. The oversized shell delivers the stiffness of a press-fit design; the threaded interface delivers the reliability and serviceability of a traditional setup. No creaking. No specialty installation tools. The correct solution to a problem the industry spent years arguing about.

Asymmetrical chainstays — the left significantly wider than the right — improve drivetrain-side power transfer without sacrificing the vertical compliance that makes the C64 comfortable on rough pavement. The dropouts are fully integrated into the chainstay construction: a one-piece design that eliminates the bonded dropout insert, reducing weight and potential failure points simultaneously. Internal routing handles both mechanical and electronic drivetrains; the frame ships with the stops, plates, and plugs for either, so your build choice is made at the component stage, not constrained by the frame.

Carbon-elastomer headset cups are fitted at the head tube — a vibration-absorbing detail that's felt rather than seen, particularly on chip seal and long days on rough pavement. The C64 Disc fork routes hydraulic brake lines internally through a ribbed steerer design, and accommodates 28mm tires with room to spare.

Geometry Options — Sloping and High

The C64 Disc is available in two geometry families across nine total sizes. The sloping geometry places you in an aggressive, race-oriented position — lower stack, shorter head tube, the kind of fit that works for riders who want to replicate what the UAE Team Emirates riders are doing on the same frame at the highest level of professional cycling. The high geometry raises the stack, shortens the effective reach to the bars, and produces a fit that's more forgiving on long rides without feeling like a relaxed endurance bike. It eliminates the need for a stack of spacers under the stem, producing a cleaner cockpit and a more structurally sound headset setup.

Both geometry families run on the same frame, with the same tube set and the same lugged construction. Choosing between them is a fit decision, not a performance one — both geometries produce the same C64 ride quality.

What the Frameset Includes

Colnago includes the C64 Disc carbon fork, the C64-specific carbon stem with internal hydraulic brake routing, the Colnago C64 carbon D-shaped seatpost, and the Colnago integrated headset with carbon-elastomer cups. The stem and seatpost alone represent meaningful value — both are purpose-designed for this frame and would cost considerably more purchased individually. The frameset is genuinely complete in the sense that matters: you need a drivetrain, wheels, cockpit tape, and pedals. Everything else is here.

The Frame Worth Building Around

The Colnago C64 Disc at $6,499.95 is a frameset that rewards a patient, considered build. It doesn't care whether you put a SRAM Red groupset on it or Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 — either will be transformed by the frame's characteristics. It doesn't care whether you prefer carbon wheels or high-end alloy — it will make both feel faster than they would on a lesser frame. What it does care about is that you ride it, that you put in the kilometers, and that you let the result of 70 years of Italian racing engineering do what it was built to do.

This is the frame. The C64 Disc is the current expression of that lineage: a handmade carbon road frameset built using the lugged construction method that Colnago pioneered and has refined through the C40, C50, C59, and C60. It's raced at the highest level of professional cycling and available here as a frameset for riders who want to build their own.

There are faster bikes by the numbers and lighter frames by the gram. There is no road frameset with more legitimate racing heritage than this.

Lugged Carbon Construction — Colnago's Singular Approach

While the rest of the industry moved to monocoque carbon construction, Colnago stayed with lugs. The C64's carbon tubes are bonded to carbon lugs at every junction point — the same structural philosophy that produced Colnago's most celebrated frames, now executed in high-modulus carbon rather than steel. It's not a nostalgic choice. It's a deliberate engineering decision that gives Colnago's builders precise control over how stiffness is distributed through the frame: stiffer at the bottom bracket and head tube, more compliant through the tubes where a rider feels vibration over long days in the saddle.

The C64 updates the C60's lugged construction with UD (unidirectional) carbon replacing the heavier 3K weave on the outer layers — reducing weight while maintaining the structural integrity of the bonded joints. Internal ribs have been added throughout for targeted stiffness, and wall thickness has been reduced across the frame. The result is a bare frame weight of approximately 900g for a painted 52cm — competitive for a lugged carbon design and a meaningful step down from the C60.

The asymmetrical chainstay design is worth understanding: the left chainstay is significantly wider than the right, improving power transfer from the drivetrain side while preserving vertical compliance where the frame meets the road. The dropouts are fully integrated into the chainstay construction — a one-piece design that reduces weight at the rear axle interface and eliminates potential failure points from bonded dropout inserts.

Disc Brake Architecture and Frame Details

The C64 Disc uses conventional 12mm thru-axles — a clean break from Colnago's previous proprietary Hexlock system and a welcome one. Standard thru-axles mean serviceability anywhere, compatibility with any disc-specific wheelset, and no special tools required in the field. The disc model weighs just 15g more than the rim-brake C64 — essentially the same frame with the additional hardware required for hydraulic braking.

Internal cable routing handles both mechanical and electronic drivetrains. The frame ships with the stops, plates, and plugs needed for either system — you choose your drivetrain at build time without any frame modification. The C64 Disc fork routes hydraulic brake lines internally through the steerer, keeping the cockpit clean and protecting the lines from trail debris.

The ThreadFit 82.5 bottom bracket standard is one of the C64's most considered engineering choices. It combines the oversized stiffness of an 82.5mm shell with a threaded interface — you press in a replaceable threaded sleeve and use any standard BB86/BB86.5 threaded bottom bracket. The result is the quiet reliability of threaded installation in a stiffer shell than a traditional 68mm English BB. No creaking, no special tools, full serviceability.

Carbon-elastomer headset cups absorb vibration at the head tube before it reaches the cockpit. It's a small detail that makes a real difference on chip seal and rough pavement over long rides, and it's the kind of attention to ride quality that shows up throughout the C64's specification.

What's Included in the Frameset

Colnago includes more with the C64 Disc frameset than most brands provide. The C64-specific carbon stem is included — an integrated design that routes the hydraulic brake line internally for a clean line from lever to caliper. The Colnago C64 carbon seatpost (the D-shaped design carried over from the V2-r aero platform) is also included. Both are purpose-designed components for this frame, and both would represent meaningful additional cost if purchased separately.

The Colnago integrated headset is fitted and matched to the frame's carbon-elastomer cups. The fork is the C64 carbon disc fork, sized for 28mm tires with internal cable routing and a ribbed design developed for stiffness under hard braking.

Built for Riders Who Know What They're Buying

The Colnago C64 Disc frameset is for riders who've done the research and arrived at the same conclusion serious cyclists have reached for decades: that Colnago's lugged construction produces a road bike that rides unlike anything else at this price. The geometry — available in sloping sizes for aggressive positioning and high geometry sizes for a taller stack — covers a wide range of rider positions without requiring extreme spacer stacks.

UAE Team Emirates races on Colnago. That's not marketing — it's the validation that comes from the world's best cyclists choosing a frame because it makes them faster, not because of a sponsorship deal that forces the choice. One is weight. To better resist the forces and heat produced by disc brakes, both fork legs and the left stays had to be redesigned. Material was added, both in terms of aluminum and carbon. The aluminum works not only to increase stiffness but acts as a heat sink, to better limit the heat that comes from braking hard for long periods of time. The second is the fork options. There is both a 9mm quick-release fork and a 15mm thru-axle fork option. The latter comes with a 15mm Hays Hex-lock thru-axle, a fast and reliable wheel-securing option that increases front end safety and stiffness. The third is the disc brake mounting at the rear dropout. The dropouts are set 135mm apart, and there’s a unique Colnago post-mount system which allows for the insertion of the wheel to help fine-tune the brake caliper position. This makes insertion easier, faster, and less-likely to rub.

As with the rim-brake C60, you will also find all of Colnago’s cutting-end technologies. The tapered 1 1/8” to 1 ¼” steerer is contained in the head tube via two bearings and Colnago’s proprietary CHS-1 headset system. This is a semi-integrated setup wherein the races are installed into replaceable cups. With a hard front-end crash, or riding the headset loose, you can replace the cups rather than deal with a broken fork or frame. Colnago is big on durability; it will take work to damage their frames. The bottom bracket standard is Colnago’s proprietary ThreadFit82.5: Colnago’s improvement on the BB86 standard. And it won’t be here long.

There’s a story you should know when it comes to the Arabesque. It was a much-loved frameset when it debuted 30 years ago. It rode well. It looked great. Sumptuous Chrome. Even to a pro, this was a tool you wanted to ride, but didn’t want to scratch in the work stand. It’s era done, Colnago moved on. Then, last year, they found a box of lugs. A fairly big box of lugs that joined the Arabesque’s tubes when the model was a regular part of the Colnago line. As the name suggests, the lugs were ornate. They decided they’d bring it back until they ran out of lugs. That number is somewhere between 400 and 600 bikes worth.

This frameset is nearly all-in on the 1980’s design spec. It features the classic star-shaped tubes of the original design. The one exception is the one-inch threadless steerer tube. Otherwise, you’ll find: an Italian-threaded bottom bracket (the only one in Colnago’s line), a 27.2mm seat tube, a front derailleur hanger, downtube shifter bosses, and horizontal dropouts. The dropouts are chrome-plated and feature micro-adjusters, just as you’d get back in the day.

Colnago is showing off the bike with newly-built retro cockpit from Cinelli, the 1A stem and 64 handlebar, as well as new old stock Ambrosio box-section tubular rims. This was what people wanted to ride back then. You can set it up however you like. Colnago, despite the pics you’ve seen, is selling the frame with a threadless steerer tube.

In terms of geometry, you’re getting a frameset that is designed to take maximum advantage of steel’s best riding qualities. The top tube is parallel to the ground and is part of what many used to term a “square” frameset, where the seat tube and top tube are nearly the same length. When looking at the spec sheet, you’ll see that the head tube lengths are smaller than you’ll find, relative to the frame size, than most Colnagos. Don’t be fooled, these frames are not more aggressive. The shorter head tubes are a function of the frames requiring an external headset. The seat tube angle is sufficiently aggressive most people will need a seatpost with setback.

The Colnago Arabesque is a complicated frameset that yields a ride that is simply wonderful.

The Colnago B1-R Direct-Mount Brake Calipers are built to match the engineering intent of Colnago's own race frames — frames that use direct-mount posts precisely because the format reduces system flex and sharpens braking response compared to traditional dual-pivot arrangements. This is not a replica or a tribute. It is a modern race bike built on Colnago's C59 platform, dressed in the brand's history, and equipped with Campagnolo's finest electronic groupset.

The C59 frame underneath the gold finish is built using Colnago's signature tube-and-lug construction — a method the brand has refined over decades while most of the industry moved to monocoque carbon. Individual tubes made from Toray T800 carbon fiber, imported from Japan, are bonded into precision-machined lugs with tolerances within 0.15mm. This approach allows Colnago to tune the stiffness and compliance characteristics at each junction independently — something a single-mold frame cannot do in the same way. The result is a frame that delivers direct power transfer at the bottom bracket while allowing controlled flex through the seatstays and top tube where road vibration matters most. The C59 platform offers 22 size configurations — 14 traditional and 8 sloping — giving riders a fit that approaches custom geometry from a production frame. The fluted top tube, square-section down tube with its internal I-beam reinforcement, and tapered carbon steerer (1.125" to 1.25") all contribute to a frame that rides taut and responsive, with a spring in its step on climbs that heavier monocoque frames sometimes lack.

Colnago paired the Ottanta frame with Campagnolo Super Record EPS — the Italian groupset maker's flagship electronic drivetrain. Super Record EPS delivers precise, consistent 11-speed shifting through Campagnolo's proprietary electronic actuation, with ergonomic thumb shifters that keep your hands in position on the hoods or drops. The Super Record rim brakes provide the stopping power and modulation that experienced riders expect from Campagnolo's top tier. Cables are routed internally through the frame — gear cables exiting the down tube, rear brake cable contained within the top tube — keeping the lines clean and the gold finish uninterrupted. They’re constantly trying new things, much of it is trying new things to improve the product and anticipate the future. The V1-R Disc frameset is the future set up now. It’s an aero road bike with rotor disc brakes.

If you’re at all familiar with the V1-R frameset, you know that the rim brake version is the lightest and most aero road bike the Italian company has ever produced. Blame obsessive designers for the weight and long-term partnership with Ferrari for the aero.

Add road disc brakes to the innovations found here. Colnago believes discs have a place on the road, and to prove it, they’ve adapted this platform to work with discs. They’re not just adding discs though; they’ve designed the frame to ride like a Colnago always does, with the discs merely being the stopping power. The fork has a Hexlock15 thru-axle system. The design, pioneered by Manitou, has a thru-axle quick release, which you install, turn 90-degrees, then close the lever. This system is fast, reliable, and allows Colnago the freedom to keep the fork blades thin and aero as the design not only prevents the hub from moving during hard braking, but also stiffens the legs. The stiffness means that steering is more precise and that hard braking won’t affect steering. The rear dropout has an innovative brake mount where one post mounts into the chain stay, while the other mounts to an external tab that centers with the installation of the rear wheel. This system is lighter, speeds installation and reduces the need to center the caliper after putting in the wheel. In both front and rear, the mounts embedded in the frame are aluminum both for durability and heat dissipation. The rear is designed for 140mm rotors. The front is designed for 140mm as well, though can work with 160mm rotors if an adapter is installed.

Like these caliper innovations, the V1-R has a number of standards that it has developed itself for both precision and durability. The tapered steerer runs on 1 1/8” and 1 ¼” bearings, but the bearings themselves are installed into aluminum cups that can be replaced. This feature protects the fork and frame in hard crashes as well as when you inadvertently ride with the headset out of adjustment. The Threadfit82.5 bottom bracket is much the same. While the result is you have BB86 that can work with lots of cranks, including BB386EVO, but their way of getting to that point is to install a threaded steel sleeve in the bottom bracket to which they install removable aluminum cups. The cups can be replaced if damaged, and the more precise fit reduces the possibility of bottom bracket creaks to nearly nothing.

All the cool innovations in the world mean nothing if the bike doesn’t ride well. Ride is what Colnago hangs their helmet on. This is their racing geometry, and as always, comfort plays an important part of the equation. You can’t ride fast on the fastest bike in the world if you’re not comfortable. Colnago wants you to feel as comfortable on this bike after seven hours as you do after 30 minutes. They achieve this result by limiting tubing sizes. The fork is aero, but slender for the aero category. The seat stays are thin to allow them to soak up bumps. And the aero seat post, while employing a Kamm-tail like shape that matches the seat tube, has a cross-section identical to a 27.2mm seat post.

While disc-brake bikes can’t be ridden in the pro peloton yet, both climbers and sprinters on the Europcar team have gravitated to the rim-brake version of the V1-R.

The bike can be set up with either mechanical or electronic shifting. The internal cable runs come with covers to accommodate both. For those going electronic, there is the freedom to run Shimano Di2 with a seat post battery or Campagnolo EPS with a seat tube battery—the EPS charging port goes under the downtube. The brakes can be set up either as hydraulic or mechanical.

The Disc Brake Colnago V1-R is a bike ahead of its time.

When the Colnago K.Zero Armrest Kit is the part standing between you and a complete, race-ready cockpit, there's no point in settling for an approximation. Colnago has been building road bikes in Cambiago, Italy since 1954, and the V3 carries that heritage in ways that go beyond marketing: the top tube's characteristic T-shaped cross-section is a direct visual reference to the legendary Master, C40, and C64 frames. For riders who care about that lineage and want a race-oriented machine built by a brand that has been on the podium of cycling's biggest races across seven decades, the V3 is the most accessible path in.

The V3's frame uses aero-optimized tube shapes without committing to the weight penalty of a dedicated aero road bike. Colnago positions it alongside bikes like the Cannondale SuperSix EVO and Specialized Tarmac — machines built to find the best compromise between low weight and aerodynamic efficiency rather than maximizing either at the expense of the other. The downtube widens as it approaches the bottom bracket for stiffness and to manage airflow through the mid-frame. The fork is a dedicated disc-brake design with concave upper sheaths that optimize tire clearance and wheel passage for rubber up to 28mm, while the concave chainstay profile provides additional clearance at the rear. Cable routing runs into a port at the top of the fork crown for the front brake hose and into the top of the down tube for the rear — partially integrated rather than fully hidden, which is the visible distinction between the V3 and the V3Rs.

The geometry is built on Colnago's traditional approach to race bike handling, which has remained consistent even as the industry has moved toward more variable stacks and reaches. The V3's parallel head and seat tube angles, combined with a 43mm fork offset, produce handling that Colnago describes as stable and confidence-inspiring rather than nervous and reactive. The head tube is shorter and the fork is longer than on the previous V3 generation, which lowers the front end and improves balance across all eight sizes. The bottom bracket has been lowered to ease access to wider tires and improve cornering clearance. Stack and reach across the size range (42–58cm) track toward a committed road-racing position — riders moving up from entry-level bikes should consult the geometry chart carefully, as Colnago's sizing convention runs smaller than most European competitors.

The seatpost clamp is a notable detail: a new integrated locking system built smaller and lighter than the previous design, with modulated tightening built into the frame interface rather than relying on a separate external binder. The Colnago V3 carbon seatpost is a dedicated aero profile shaped to the seat tube, with 20mm offset for reach adjustment. The handlebar is the Colnago Carbon R41 — a carbon drop bar with a Kamm tail flat-back section on the tops that provides a modest aero benefit in the drops while also making a comfortable handhold on long climbs.

The drivetrain is SRAM Rival AXS 2x12, fully wireless, with a 48/35 crankset running against an XG-1250 10-30 cassette. The 10-30 range with 12 speeds gives single-tooth steps through the lower sprockets, which translates to smooth cadence management on rolling terrain without the large jumps of a wide-range gravel cassette. SRAM Rival AXS hydraulic disc brakes use SRAM Paceline Centerlock rotors — 160mm front, 140mm rear. Wheels are Fulcrum Racing 600, tubeless-compatible with a 19mm internal width, appropriate for the 700x28 Vittoria Zaffiro Pro Slick II tires the bike ships with. The Deda Elementi Attacco stem and Prolog Dimension saddle complete the build. Four colorways — MKRD, MKBL, MKGR, MKWH — reflect Colnago's custom color program, each a paint code rather than a generic descriptor, consistent with how Colnago has named colors across decades of production.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0608/7684/9196/files/colnago-v3-disc-rival-axs-bike-8734679.jpg?v=1771301411
colnago-c68-disc-dura-ace-di2-bike-1
Colnago C68 Disc Dura-Ace Di2 Bike

The Colnago C68 represents the pinnacle of Colnago’s world class craftsmanship. A long lineage of C-series road bikes has proven that Colnago is one of the best manufacturers on the planet, and they improved yet again with the C68. 68 represents how far Colnago has come since their inception in 1958. This professional-level road bike is lighter and stiffer than its predecessors and even improves in terms of comfort. The C68 is made entirely in Italy, benefitting from that classic Italian craftsmanship that dominates the cycling industry. With the Colnago C68, you can count on road performance in all areas.

As always, the C68 frame is incredibly light and a great climber. This version comes in at just 925 grams in a size 48.5, giving you everything you need to conquer the mountains. Ultra-high modulus carbon was used to make the frame, making it stiffer than ever in addition to its lightweight improvements. The new split headtube is stronger, lighter, and more customizable. With more options for stack and reach variations than ever, riders can find their ideal fit. It also helps improve stiffness, making the C68 a capable sprinter and not just a climbing machine. The new frame construction of the Colnago C68 has it performing better than ever.

This is the premier version of the C68, equipped with a Shimano Di2 groupset for elite 12-speed electronic shifting. Shimano Dura-Ace wheels are also featured, making it a complete Dura-Ace elite setup. Its Pirelli P Zero Race tires stick with the overall lightweight race theme of the bike. It also has a Colnago Integrated CC.01 Bar/Stem combo for proper integration and aerodynamics in the cockpit. This build simply makes the C68 a road superbike.

The fork of the Colnago C68 has been redesigned and improved. The “D” shape has been replaced with a simpler 1 1/8-inch lightweight round tube. A special headset system pairs with the fork to make it easier than ever to internally rout cables. The top cap even features an integrated multitool for adjustments on a long ride. The bottom bracket has also been revised to a more standard and easier to find T47 BB. Where much of the gravel category has tilted toward long-haul adventure and cargo carrying, the G3-X takes its engineering cues directly from Colnago's V3Rs road racer — the same V-Series monocoque carbon platform, comparable stiffness targets, and a geometry that remains unmistakably performance-oriented. Colnago has been building race bikes in Cambiago, Italy since 1954, and the G3-X carries that orientation openly. On a mixed-terrain group ride or gravel event, you feel the road bike DNA in every pedal stroke.

The frame is V-Series monocoque carbon, constructed with stiffness comparable to the V3Rs but adapted for off-road demands in specific ways. The fork and rear stays accommodate tires up to 42mm wide — Colnago's intended sweet spot is 40mm — and the frame carries protection where gravel bikes tend to take the most punishment. A plastic mudguard under the bottom bracket shields the carbon from stone strikes, and a second guard on the right chainstay protects against chain damage over extended mileage. Despite that added durability hardware, the frame weighs 900 grams. Through-axles are 12mm in diameter, with 100mm spacing at the fork and 142mm at the rear. Colnago also built in additional mounting points — two on the top tube and two under the down tube — for a second bottle cage or small frame bag when a single cage isn't enough for longer efforts.

The geometry departs from a road position in measured ways. Reach is shortened relative to a comparable road bike to improve control on loose terrain, and the bottom bracket height is adjusted to account for larger tires and rougher surfaces. The riding position is still assertive by gravel standards — riders coming from road racing will find it natural, while those used to a more upright endurance fit may need time to adapt. That's a calibration, not a flaw. The G3-X is designed to go fast, and the geometry reflects that priority consistently across all five sizes.

The carbon seatpost uses a D-shaped cross-section inspired by the teardrop profile of the V3Rs post. That shape provides an aerodynamic silhouette while also giving the post some vertical compliance — enough to take the repetitive buzz out of extended gravel descents without going to a dedicated suspension seatpost. The clamp is fully integrated into the top tube, keeping the rear of the bike clean and making saddle height adjustments easy to dial in. Up front, Deda's Gravel 100 bar and ZERO1 stem provide a matched cockpit, with bar width and stem length both scaled to frame size.

This build runs SRAM's Rival AXS XPLR 1x wireless electronic drivetrain throughout. The Rival eTap AXS shifters operate a single 40-tooth chainring via SRAM's DUB wide-stance crank, and the 12-speed SRAM XG-1251 cassette runs from 10 to 44 teeth. That range is well-suited to gravel terrain — wide enough for steep climbs and fast descents, without a front derailleur adding complexity or dropped-chain risk. SRAM Rival AXS hydraulic disc brakes stop the bike at both ends, running SRAM Paceline Centerlock rotors at 160mm front and 140mm rear. The wheel spec is Fulcrum Rapid Red 900 front and rear — aluminum rims with 24mm depth, 22mm internal channel width, and 2-Way Fit tubeless compatibility. Pirelli Cinturato Gravel H tires in 700x40 fill out the setup, a tubeless-ready gravel compound that balances rolling efficiency with grip across mixed surfaces.

The G3-X is aimed at riders who treat gravel as a performance discipline — mixed-terrain events, gravel fondos, and fast group rides that blend pavement with dirt roads. It delivers the stiffness and responsiveness of a road race bike without giving up the tire clearance and frame protection needed off-road. At $4,849.95, it sits below Colnago's higher-spec gravel builds while retaining the V-Series carbon frame and full wireless electronic shifting that make it a serious machine. For riders who want a capable gravel bike that rides like a Colnago, this is where to start.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0608/7684/9196/files/colnago-g3-x-rival-axs-1x-disc-bike-9645323.jpg?v=1771295651
colnago-c68-disc-frameset
Colnago C68 Disc Frameset

The Colnago C68 Disc Frameset is the flagship of a C-series lineage that changed the sport. Colnago was the first brand in cycling history to bring carbon frames to the professional peloton, and they did it with the modular C40 — a frame that went on to win Paris-Roubaix, one of the most technically punishing races on the calendar. The C68 carries that tradition forward in a disc-brake format, built around the same modular construction philosophy that Colnago has refined across every iteration of the C-series. The name marks where Colnago stands after decades of continuous frame development and production in Cambiago, Italy, and the frame is assembled, painted, and shipped from the same region where Ernesto Colnago built the brand.

The construction method is what separates the C68 from nearly everything else at this price. Colnago builds the frame from eight individual carbon parts — the same count as the C64 — assembled through precision joints and interlocks. A new production step called banding applies thin carbon strips manually at each joint, which are then hand-filed and polished to a seamless surface. The result is a frame that retains the quality advantages of modular construction — smaller molds, tighter tolerances, more consistent carbon layup on each individual part — while presenting the clean finish of a monocoque. Carbon tubes and joints are produced by an Italian supplier in Pordenone, frames are bonded and built in Cambiago, painting is done by hand with an airbrush in Cascina, and final assembly returns to Cambiago before the frameset ships. In size 48.5, the frame weighs 925g.

The technical package reflects the same level of care. The bottom bracket standard is T47, which uses larger diameter bearings than a traditional threaded shell — Colnago specifies this for reduced rolling friction and better long-term durability. The steerer tube is a larger diameter than the C64's, which increases front-end rigidity and improves steering precision on technical terrain. The CeramicSpeed SLT headset bearings are treated with a surface technology that Colnago says virtually eliminates the need for maintenance over the product's life. Tucked into the headset top cap is an integrated multitool, sized for the adjustments a rider might need mid-ride without carrying a separate tool. Tire clearance runs to 32mm — wide enough to run the tire volume most road riders are moving toward, and compatible with a broad range of wheelsets.

Colnago positioned the C68 Road's geometry close to the V4Rs, their dedicated race frame — reach, stack, and head angle are all comparable. The distinction they draw is in character: the V4Rs is tuned for professional racers with the physical conditioning to use maximum stiffness. The C68 is designed for what Colnago describes as "the perfect balance between enjoyment and performance" — a snappy, responsive road frame that rewards riders who push hard without the V4Rs's uncompromising nature. The carbon fork has been lightened over the C64's, and it pairs with the CeramicSpeed headset system to simplify internal cable routing. This geometry is not an endurance setup; Colnago is direct about that. The C68 is a road racing frame for riders who value Italian craft as much as performance numbers.

The frameset includes the carbon fork, CeramicSpeed SLT headset, and Colnago C68 seatpost. Nine colorways are available. The frame is UCI homologated and legal for sanctioned road racing. Colnago's blockchain registration system records ownership on a secure ledger — useful for warranty claims, theft recovery, and resale verification. Registering within 30 days of purchase extends the standard 2-year warranty to three years. Sizes run 42cm, 45.5cm, 48.5cm, 51cm, 53cm, 55cm, and 57cm — note that Colnago sizes by seat tube length, which doesn't map directly to other manufacturers' sizing, so refer to the geometry chart decades of race-winning heritage refuses to build frames the way everyone else does. While the rest of the industry moved to monocoque carbon construction long ago, Colnago kept refining its modular approach — eight individual carbon modules, hand-assembled at Colnago's Cambiago facility in Italy through precision joints and interlocks. The result is a frame that looks seamless but is built with a level of individual attention that a single-mold process simply cannot match. Each joint is banded by hand with carbon fiber, then filed and polished until the frame has the clean lines of a monocoque with the craftsmanship of something far more deliberate.

The C68 carries forward a lineage that started with the legendary C40 — the first carbon frame to win Paris-Roubaix in professional racing and the bike that proved modular construction belonged at the highest level of the sport. Colnago's modular method allows for smaller, more precise molds for each tube section, which means tighter control over wall thickness, fiber orientation, and structural consistency than a full-frame mold can deliver. The ultra-high modulus carbon used in the C68 pushes the frame to a claimed 930g (size 51s, unpainted), making it lighter and stiffer than its C64 predecessor while maintaining the ride quality that Colnago's modular frames are known for.

The C68 also reflects modern standards where it matters. The T47 bottom bracket shell uses larger-diameter bearings for improved durability and reduced rolling friction, while offering broader crankset compatibility than the proprietary threading it replaces. A larger-diameter steerer tube sharpens front-end rigidity and steering precision. Tire clearance accommodates up to 32mm — enough for the wider rubber that modern road riders increasingly prefer. Fully integrated cable routing keeps the lines clean, and the frameset ships with a CeramicSpeed SLT headset, carbon monocoque seatpost, and a blockchain NFC tag for authenticity verification. This is a Colnago frameset built for electronic or wireless groupsets only, designed for riders who want a race-geometry road frame with the kind of provenance that only Cambiago can deliver.

Design Benefits

Modular Precision: Eight individual carbon modules allow Colnago to use smaller, more precise molds for each tube section. This means tighter control over wall thickness and fiber placement than a single full-frame mold can achieve — a manufacturing advantage that translates directly to consistency and structural integrity across every frame size.

Handcrafted Italian Assembly: Every C68 frame is bonded, banded, filed, and polished by hand at Colnago's Cambiago facility. The carbon bands at each module joint are applied and finished manually, giving the frame the visual seamlessness of a monocoque with the build quality of an artisan process. Even the paint is applied by airbrush to avoid adding unnecessary weight.

Modern Standards, Legacy Character: The T47 bottom bracket and larger steerer tube bring the C68 in line with current component standards, improving bearing durability and front-end stiffness. Combined with 32mm tire clearance and fully hidden cable routing, the C68 rides like a modern race frame while retaining the distinctive character of Colnago's modular heritage.

Race-Ready Geometry: The C68 shares aggressive geometry comparable to Colnago's V4Rs race platform, making it a frame that responds to hard efforts and rewards precision in corners. UCI homologated for competition, it is designed for riders who want the performance of a dedicated race bike wrapped in the craftsmanship of a frame built one at a time.

Final Take

The C68 Disc Frameset in the Studio colorway is for the rider who understands that how a frame is made matters as much as how it performs. It carries the DNA of every C-series frame Colnago has ever built — from the C40 that changed professional racing to the C64 that refined the formula — and pushes the modular concept further with lighter weight, modern standards, and the same hands in Cambiago that have been building frames for champions since the 1950s. You may have noticed the V4Rs under riders like Tadej Pogacar, picking up wins at the Tour de France. There is a reason some of the best athletes in the world prefer the Colnago V4Rs. It really doesn’t have any weaknesses. In modern cycling, you need to be able to keep your speed through the mountains, on sprints, and everywhere in between. The V4Rs is incredibly lightweight, aerodynamically optimized, and has impeccable handling to keep you feeling confident and at your best all over the road.

The new V4Rs is more aerodynamic than ever. This is thanks to upgrades in areas like the CC.01 Colnago Cockpit which has drag reductions of 16 percent compared to the previous generation. Despite having the weight of a climbing bike, the V4Rs is more aero than a lot of aero bikes. With a standard setup, it had a 3 percent aero improvement from previous generations, translating to about 13.2 watts savings. This bumps up to 6 percent and 27.7 watts saved with an advanced aero setup. All of these aerodynamic evolutions were carried out without altering the stiffness of the frame, keeping power transfer to a maximum, complementing the aero efficiency.

Colnago’s engineers focused on achieving the best possible stiffness for sprinting on the V4Rs. Of course, stiffness is most important when the rider is in a sprinting position. The V4Rs is 4 percent stiffer in this position thanks to Colnago’s Real-Dynamic Stiffness methodology. This system calculates forces in different riding conditions to optimize stiffness. It was also used to improve stiffness in the seated position by 5 percent, giving you more speed during all-around riding. Every piece of the Colnago V4Rs has been optimized to promote pure speed in all areas of road riding.

Numbers and engineering aside, the Colnago V4Rs is made to be ridden in the real world. It now has more impact resistance than ever without affecting aerodynamics of performance. With less need for maintenance, you can spend more time riding. A new integrated lightweight fork is featured, giving you better climbing ability as well as amazing handling and stability at high speeds. The C59 was introduced to mark Colnago’s 59th year, and this limited edition Pearl White example was built at the Colnago factory in Cambiago, Italy, where each frame is assembled by hand through a process of joining individual carbon tubes with precision-cast carbon lugs. Available here in a single 48cm size, it is one of the last of a specific kind of Colnago that the modern era has largely moved away from.

Colnago’s lugged carbon construction is distinct from the monocoque and tube-to-tube carbon methods used by most road bike manufacturers. Rather than molding the entire frame as one continuous carbon structure, Colnago engineers each tube individually to the specifications of that frame section, then joins them using cast carbon lugs — metal-like junctions that bond the tubes together with structural integrity and geometric precision. The result is a frame that behaves differently from monocoque carbon: more compliant in its damping behavior, more particular in how it transmits power, and more demanding in the craft required to build it. The C59 full carbon fork, the semi-integrated C-HS1 headset spanning 1-1/8” to 1-1/4”, and the carbon 31.6mm seatpost — with its integrated Di2 battery housing — reflect the complete care taken in every component choice on this build.

The groupset is Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 7970 — the first generation of Dura-Ace electronic shifting, paired with the mechanical 7900 crank, bottom bracket, and brakes. The Colnago Carbon tubular wheels, shod with Vredestein Corsa Evo II Special tubular tires, are the rolling choice of riders who prize ride quality and flat-resistance over the convenience of tubeless setups. The Colnago C59 Electronic Frameset belongs to the latter — a frame that carries the weight of Italian racing history without being burdened by nostalgia. Launched in 2011 and hand-assembled in Cambiago, Italy, the C59 arrived at a moment when the rest of the industry had largely moved on from tube-and-lug carbon construction. Colnago held the line. What emerged was one of the most considered road framesets of its generation: a bike that rides with the precision of something shaped by human hands rather than mass-produced in a mold.

Sitting on the C59, you notice things that most carbon frames don't give you. The steering is direct without being nervous. The ride absorbs the road without going soft. That balance comes from the construction method itself — individual carbon tubes bonded into machined lugs, each junction engineered to manage load and flex in ways a monocoque frame cannot selectively tune. The squared chainstays, the alloy rear dropouts, the diagonal and horizontal tube profiles that echo the legendary Master — none of this is aesthetic flourish. It reflects a coherent engineering approach to stiffness, comfort, and power transfer across a wide range of rider inputs. Whether you are grinding through a long road ride or holding position in a fast-moving group, the C59 rewards commitment.

This is the electronic variant, and that distinction is worth understanding. Colnago didn't retrofit the C59 to accept electronic groupsets — the internal cable routing was engineered into the frame from the outset. The result is a cleaner build, a cable-free cockpit, and a frameset that works with modern electronic drivetrains rather than accommodating them as an afterthought. The C59 Electronic also introduced the C-HS1 headset system and built on the ride quality legacy of the C40, one of the most celebrated road frames in cycling history. Riding it puts you at the intersection of Italian craftsmanship and contemporary performance — a place very few framesets can honestly claim.

Design Benefits

Tube-and-Lug Carbon Construction: Where monocoque frames are molded as a single unit, the C59 is built tube by tube — each section bonded into a precision lug, each junction tuned for its specific load. Colnago has been building racing frames since the 1950s — frames that have carried riders across cobbled monuments, Alpine climbs, and sprint finishes at the highest level of the sport. The C59 is the latest chapter in that lineage, and it does not arrive with anything to prove. It arrives with decades of accumulated engineering instinct folded into every tube, every junction, every carefully considered layup decision.

What distinguishes the C59 from the broader field of high-end carbon framesets is its construction method. Rather than a standard monocoque shell, Colnago uses a lugged tube-and-lug architecture — individual carbon tubes bonded at precisely engineered junctions. This approach allows the engineering team to optimize fiber orientation on a tube-by-tube basis. The downtube can be built for torsional stiffness and power transfer. The stays can be tuned for vertical compliance over rough pavement. That level of specificity is genuinely difficult to achieve when the entire frame is molded as a single unit. The result is a ride character that feels deliberate — responsive under load, settled at speed, and more communicative over varied surfaces than you might expect from a frame this stiff.

The disc-brake integration is built into the C59's architecture from the start, not retrofitted from a rim-brake platform. Post-mount caliper attachment, quick-release wheel retention, and internal cable routing are designed around disc-specific geometry and clearances. A full-carbon C59 fork is included with the frameset, and the frame itself weighs in at approximately 950 grams — a figure that keeps a lightweight, race-worthy build well within reach. Standard 68mm English-threaded bottom bracket shell and 31.6mm seatpost diameter mean you are working with a wide and familiar component ecosystem rather than a proprietary dead end.

Design Benefits

Lugged Carbon Construction: Colnago's tube-and-lug method gives engineers precise control over how each section of the frame behaves under load. The Colnago Master Frameset has been in continuous production since the early 1980s, built entirely in Italy, carrying the same fundamental design language that made it one of the most recognized road frames in cycling history. Colnago was founded by Ernesto Colnago in Cambiago in 1954, and the Master arrived in 1983 as the culmination of decades of Italian steel frame expertise. It carried some of the most celebrated riders of the following decade to race victories. Forty years on, it is not a retro revival or a limited commemorative run — it remains in active production, made the same way, still the benchmark for what a purpose-built steel road frame can be.

The frame is constructed from Colnago's proprietary DT15V steel, formed into the Master's signature star-shaped tube profiles. Colnago calls this the S4 Profile — four structural ribs pressed into what would otherwise be a round tube section. The ribs improve torsional stiffness while maintaining the compliance that separates steel from stiffer materials under sustained load. The S4 Profile was a structural advancement when Colnago introduced it, not an aesthetic choice — it happened to also become the Master's most recognizable visual element. Every cyclist who has looked at a Colnago Master knows those tubes on sight. The frame is joined using traditional lugged construction at three points: head tube, seat post cluster, and bottom bracket shell. Lugs require exacting tolerances and cannot be meaningfully automated; each joint is precision-fitted, brazed, and finished by hand. Lugged steel construction was once standard and is now rare, practiced at this level by almost no one. All three lugs on the Master reward close examination — they are as much craft object as structural element. The maximum combined weight limit for rider, bicycle, and load is 120 kg.

The Precisa fork carries its own history within the Master's story. When Colnago introduced it in the late 1980s, straight-blade forks were not common — most production road forks used curved or raked blades. The Precisa's straight blades changed how the fork managed road vibration, absorbing input through the flex of the extended blade length rather than through a bend in the profile. It was a design built for feel and control on rough road surfaces, and it established the template for all subsequent Colnago fork designs. The fork on this frameset is chrome steel with a 1" threadless steerer, designed for rim brakes — the correct pairing for a frame that predates disc brake road design, and the right choice for a rider who wants to preserve the Master's original character intact.

This listing is for the frameset, which includes the frame and Precisa fork. The buyer supplies the headset, drivetrain, wheels, cockpit, and saddle. The front derailleur mount is braze-on. The seatpost diameter is 27.2mm. Sizing runs from 49cm through 65cm in 1cm increments — one of the widest size ranges offered by any production road frame, a reflection of the Master's long history and Colnago's practice of fitting riders across the full spectrum rather than compressing into a handful of sizes. The frameset is available in five colorways: AD04, AD10, AD11, AD14, and PR99 — each a distinct Colnago paint and graphic combination developed at their Italian facility. Carbon road frames are lighter and stiffer. The Master offers something that can't be engineered in: forty years of uninterrupted production, a construction method almost no one else still practices at this quality, and a continuous place in Carbonissimo Frameset

The Colnago Carbonissimo Frameset is a road frameset built from 100% Italian ATR carbon fiber, shaped by a brand that has been engineering race bikes in Cambiago since 1954. That lineage matters. It means the tube profiles, layup decisions, and geometry weren't developed in a vacuum — they carry decades of feedback from the Monuments, the Grand Tours, and the kinds of riders who treat suffering as methodology. The Carbonissimo translates that heritage into a frameset that rides with composure and intent, the kind of road bike foundation that rewards precise inputs and honest effort.

ATR carbon is Colnago's own material specification, refined over years of development at the highest levels of the sport. It's not a commodity layup with a premium badge — it's a deliberate material choice that shapes how the Carbonissimo absorbs road vibration, transfers power, and holds its line through corners. The result is a frame that feels planted without being rigid, responsive without being nervous. On a long climbing road or a fast technical descent, the chassis gives you confidence in what you're asking of it. That's not a small thing in a frameset.

At 48cm, the geometry is dialed for riders on the smaller end of the road bike spectrum — proportions that put you purposefully over the front wheel without the compromises that often come with scaling down a larger platform. The included Colnago Force Fork keeps the front end cohesive from the start and eliminates a common compatibility headache during the build. Italian-threaded bottom bracket shell and braze-on front derailleur mount give you a broad range of groupset compatibility, so the Carbonissimo works as a canvas for whatever drivetrain direction you're heading.

Design Benefits

ATR Carbon Construction: Colnago's ATR carbon specification is a house-developed material standard, not a generic layup. The result is a frame that manages the tension between stiffness and compliance better than most carbon at this level — enough lateral rigidity to transfer power cleanly, enough vertical compliance to keep you comfortable across rough tarmac over distance.

Included Force Fork: The Colnago Force Fork ships with the frameset, meaning your front-end geometry and handling character are matched from day one. It removes the guesswork of fork selection during a custom build and ensures the steering feel reflects Colnago's intended ride character — precise, without being twitchy.

Italian-Threaded Bottom Bracket Shell: The 70mm Italian-threaded shell is a deliberate nod to a standard that remains widely supported across quality groupsets and bottom bracket manufacturers. It's a reliable, serviceable interface that gives your build more options and keeps long-term maintenance straightforward.

Proportional 48cm Geometry: Smaller road frames often suffer from compromised tube angles or stack-and-reach numbers that don't match their intended rider. Colnago's approach to the 48cm Carbonissimo prioritizes race-appropriate positioning at the small end of the range — so riders who need this size aren't riding a scaled-down approximation of the design intent.

Braze-On Front Derailleur Mount: The braze-on derailleur interface keeps the front shifting clean and reduces mechanical noise from band-clamp adapters. It's a detail that reflects how the frame was designed — for a proper drivetrain installation, not an afterthought compatibility workaround.

Final Take

The Carbonissimo is for the road rider who wants to build something deliberate — a bike assembled around a frame with real provenance, not a spec-sheet compromise. It suits the smaller-statured cyclist who refuses to settle for geometry that wasn't designed with them in mind, and anyone drawn to Italian road cycling heritage that goes deeper than a badge. That has been taken to the next level with the limited edition Gioiello C68. Made for the 111th Tour de France, just 111 of these bikes have been created, each with its own unique number. The first one will be ridden by Tadej Pogacar at the team presentation. The first thing you will likely notice is the blue and gold leafing. The metallic blue combines with gold and includes representation of the French and Florentine lilies. The fleur-de-lys symbol also represents royalty and pride and has long been a symbol of Florence and the French nation. This bike comes with a special edition bike cover and limited saddle as well. With the Tour de France departing from Italy for the first time and Tadej Pogacar leading the way, there was no better bike than the Colnago C68 to be the official bike of the tour.

On top of all its unique features, you can always count on a C68 for pure performance on the road.

It comes in at just 925 grams in a size 48.5, giving you everything you need to conquer the mountains.

This is a high-level custom built version of the Colnago C68. It includes a Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 groupset for high-level 12-speed electronic road shifting. ENVE SES 3.4 wheels with gold spokes are included as well, making it a full high-level Campagnolo setup that matches the limited gold theme. Its Pirelli PZero Race tires stick with the overall lightweight race theme of the bike and add more gold accents. It also has a Colnago Integrated CC.01 Bar/Stem combo for proper integration and aerodynamics in the cockpit. This build combines value with professional performance.

On top of all its unique features, you can always count on a C68 for pure performance on the road.

The Colnago C68 Super Record WRL Custom Paint sits firmly in the second category. Built at Colnago's facility in Cambiago, Italy, and finished in a bespoke paint scheme that sets it apart from anything on a showroom floor, this 53cm build represents the current pinnacle of a modular carbon construction tradition that stretches back more than thirty years. Ernesto Colnago and his team introduced carbon frames to professional racing in the early 1990s — and the C40 subsequently won Paris-Roubaix, which remains one of the most demanding tests of frame integrity in all of cycling. The C68 carries that lineage forward with new materials, new processes, and a drivetrain pairing that is as definitively Italian as the frame itself.

The frame is built from eight individual carbon modules — the same part count as the predecessor C64 — each produced in smaller moulds that allow for tighter quality control than a monocoque construction permits. Those modules are then hand-assembled through joints and interlocks by Colnago craftspeople in Cambiago. What makes the C68 distinct from its predecessors is a new technique called banding: carbon strips are applied manually at each joint after assembly, then filed and hand-polished until the seams disappear entirely. The result looks like a seamless monocoque frame but retains the compliance and ride character that Colnago's modular approach has always delivered. Up front, a carbon fork handles disc-specific loads with integrated cable routing and a 1"1/8 steerer, while a CeramicSpeed SLT treated headset and T47 bottom bracket complete a frame kit that has clearly been thought through at every junction. The frame is UCI homologated and carries a maximum combined load rating of 120kg. This is a race bike, designed with racing geometry — Colnago is explicit that the C68 is built for riders who want speed and prestige, not a softened riding position.

Campagnolo Super Record WRL is the natural companion for this build, and RA Cycles has specced it correctly. The fully wireless 12-speed disc groupset runs a 48-32T front double and a 10-27T cassette, with Campagnolo Ergopower hydraulic brake levers feeding 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors via Standard Flat Mount calipers. The 172.5mm cranks are the appropriate length for the 530mm frame. Shifting is quiet and immediate — Super Record WRL's reputation is well-established at the WorldTour level, and in this configuration it matches the quality of the frame beneath it. The Colnago CC.01 integrated cockpit keeps the front end aero and clean, with a regular geometry fit suitable for a wide range of riders in a proper race position. For wheels, the build ships with Campagnolo Bora Ultra WTO 45 carbon clinchers — H.U.L.C. carbon fiber with C-Lux finishing, CULT ceramic bearings in carbon hub shells, and a 45mm rim depth that balances aerodynamic efficiency against crosswind stability over a full day in the saddle. The 21mm internal channel width and Pirelli PZero Race TLR 700x28 tires are a well-matched combination. The C68 accepts up to 30mm nominal tire width, leaving room to adapt the setup for different conditions.

Design Benefits

Handmade modular construction with banding technology. The C68's 8-part carbon frame is built by hand through a process Colnago has refined over three decades. The new banding step — carbon strips applied and polished at each joint — delivers the aesthetic finish of a monocoque with the tuned compliance of a modular design. No two frames leave Cambiago identically.

CeramicSpeed and CULT bearings throughout. The CeramicSpeed SLT headset and Campagnolo CULT ceramic wheel bearings are the specification choices of riders who understand where efficiency is actually lost.

This system calculates forces in different riding conditions to optimize stiffness. It was also used to improve stiffness in the seated position by 5 percent, giving you more speed during all-around riding. Founded in Cambiago, Italy in 1952 by Ernesto Colnago, the brand has built its reputation across seven decades of professional racing — Grand Tour victories, World Championship wins, and Olympic gold medals. The Y1Rs is the current peak of that lineage: a purpose-built aero race frameset designed for sprinters and breakaway specialists who can't afford to leave watts on the table.

The aerodynamic philosophy behind the Y1Rs centers on a single benchmark: 19 percent. That's how much Colnago reduced the frame's frontal area compared to the V4Rs, achieved through two primary design changes. The first is the curved downtube — a departure from conventional straight-tube geometry that shapes the frame's profile to shed drag rather than fight it. The second is the CC.Y1 integrated cockpit with WYND© technology: a gull-wing handlebar design that minimizes airflow separation around the bars and stem without compromising the stiffness that high-wattage efforts demand. The shape works across variable wind conditions, not just in a perfect headwind tunnel scenario, which matters in real races where the wind is rarely cooperative.

The DEFY seatpost joint is less visible but equally deliberate. The dual Y-shaped connection between the seat tube and seatpost improves aerodynamics in one of the most turbulent zones on any road bike, while simultaneously acting as a compliance element that attenuates road vibration before it reaches the saddle. For riders targeting long breakaways or sustained race efforts, this combination pays off over time: cleaner airflow over the rear of the bike, and less fatigue accumulation from rough road surfaces. Bottom bracket stiffness has also been increased by 3.5 percent over the V4Rs — an immediate benefit in sprint response and power transfer under load.

Colnago describes their development philosophy as "from-race-to-race" — every design decision validated in WorldTour racing conditions, not just optimized for controlled environments. The process begins with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation developed in collaboration with leading universities, modeling airflow around the frame and rider. Physical prototypes are then produced via 3D printing for iterative testing, followed by wind tunnel validation in both standalone frame and full race configurations using mannequins replicating WorldTour rider positions. The outcome is quantified: the Y1Rs requires 20 fewer watts than the V4Rs to sustain 50 km/h. In a race, that margin is endurance as much as speed.

The frameset comes with the CC.Y1 integrated cockpit and two Colnago x Elite custom bottle cages engineered to preserve the frame's aerodynamic profile. The headset uses CeramicSpeed SLT (Seal Less Technology) treated bearings — a detail that reflects the frameset's overall standard. The carbon seatpost is available in 0mm or 15mm offset. The frame is compatible with modern electronic groupsets across manufacturers, so whether you're building with Dura-Ace Di2, Super Record EPS, or SRAM RED AXS, the Y1Rs accommodates each cleanly. Drivetrain, wheels, and cassette are not included — this is a frameset purchase for riders who are speccing their own build.

Colnago offers blockchain frame registration for Y1Rs owners: register the frame on a secured system for legal ownership proof, authenticity certification, theft protection (the frame becomes unsaleable on secondary markets if reported stolen), and an additional year of warranty beyond the standard two-year coverage. Over those seven decades, they have supplied frames to more Grand Tour winners than almost any other manufacturer — bikes that have carried champions up mountain passes, across cobbled classics, and through decisive solo breakaways. The Colnago V5Rs Frameset is where that lineage lands today: the latest evolution of their V-series race platform, developed specifically for the demands of World Tour competition and ridden by Tadej Pogačar at the highest level of the sport. As a frameset, it puts that engineering directly in the hands of riders who know exactly what they want to build around it.

At 685 grams ready-to-paint, the V5Rs is the lightest frame Colnago has ever produced — 12.5 percent lighter than its predecessor without sacrificing the rigidity that race bikes require. Getting there meant rethinking the tube profiles from the ground up. Colnago drew directly from the Y1Rs, their time trial and triathlon project, adapting its thinner, high-performance carbon profiles to a road geometry. The result is a frame that achieves aerodynamic efficiency close to what you'd find on a dedicated aero bike while remaining light enough to excel on climbs. Total frontal area comes in at 250 cm² — a 13 percent reduction compared to the previous generation — with a narrower head tube further cutting drag at the point where wind resistance is most consequential during high-speed efforts.

The V5Rs was developed with the kind of process that elite race bikes demand. Colnago began with CFD simulation to model airflow across the frame, then moved to 3D-printed prototypes for rapid testing and refinement. Wind tunnel sessions with full competition setups — wheels, rider, kit — verified the aerodynamic gains before professional riders put the frame through real-world validation. Every claim made about the V5Rs has been confirmed under race conditions, not just in a laboratory. The newly developed carbon fork contributes to the overall aero story while also improving steering precision. It accommodates tires up to 32mm, giving the frame genuine versatility across road surfaces without compromising its race-ready character.

As a frameset, the V5Rs is built for the rider approaching a custom build with intention. V5Rs Ultegra Di2 Bike

The Colnago V5Rs Ultegra Di2 is the bike Tadej Pogačar and UAE Team Emirates take to the biggest races on the calendar — and every design decision reflects that standard. The V5Rs is the latest evolution of Colnago's V Series, built around a single objective: to win. At 685 grams ready-to-paint, it is the lightest Colnago frame ever made, arriving 12.5 percent lighter than its predecessor without any reduction in rigidity. It is, in the clearest terms, what happens when a manufacturer stops chasing trade-offs and starts eliminating them.

The frame's carbon monocoque construction uses advanced lamination techniques that control the arrangement of carbon fibers across every area of the frame — giving Colnago's engineers precise command over stiffness, weight, and durability simultaneously. The result is a frontal area of just 250 cm², a 13 percent reduction from the previous generation, achieved in part through a narrower head tube that reduces air resistance without compromising handling precision. A newly developed carbon fork contributes to sharper steering response and accepts tires up to 32mm — wider rubber that brings measurable gains in grip, compliance, and speed on rough or technical roads.

Colnago's development process for the V5Rs goes beyond typical race validation. The design begins with CFD simulations developed in partnership with universities, prototypes are built via 3D printing for rapid iteration, then tested in the wind tunnel in full competition configuration with manikins. Final validation is done by professional riders on real roads. Colnago calls this the "From-Race-to-Race" approach: every detail has been shaped by actual race demands, not assumptions. This build pairs that engineering with a full Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset — 12-speed electronic shifting via R8150 derailleurs, R8170 hydraulic disc brakes with 160mm front and 140mm rear rotors, and an R8100 crankset running 52/36 with an 11-30 cassette.

Design Benefits

685g monocoque frame — the lightest Colnago ever made. Advanced lamination techniques control fiber orientation throughout the frame, delivering a 12.5 percent weight reduction over the previous generation without sacrificing stiffness or durability.

Aerodynamic performance close to a pure aero frame. A 250 cm² frontal area — 13 percent less than its predecessor — combined with a narrower head tube brings drag numbers into territory Colnago describes as approaching dedicated aero frames, while retaining the weight profile of a climbing machine.

Precision-validated through CFD, wind tunnel, and pro riders. The V5Rs moved from computational fluid dynamics to 3D-printed prototypes to full-configuration wind tunnel testing before pro riders confirmed performance on real roads. At this price point, the Ultegra Di2 build puts that WorldTour platform within reach of riders who want what Pogačar races without stepping up to Dura-Ace pricing. Vision SC45 wheels, Pirelli P Zero Race tires, and the CC.01 integrated cockpit complete a build that is genuinely race-ready straight out of the box.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0608/7684/9196/files/colnago-v5rs-ultegra-di2-bike-3327271.jpg?v=1771293551
colnago-y1rs-sram-axs-custom-bike
Colnago Y1Rs SRAM AXS Custom Bike

Built Your Way at RA Cycles

The Colnago Y1Rs represents the next evolution in Italian road racing heritage—blending modern aerodynamics, elite-level handling, and race-proven geometry.
